> 2011 Mazda Tribute Features: safety

Crash Safety

We don't just take safety seriously, we take it to the highest level. Which is why the Mazda Tribute received the Highest Side-Impact Crash Test Rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Air Bags

Dual front air bags, front side-impact air bags and side-impact air curtains with rollover protection are standard for the safety of all aboard.
  • Dual front air bags help provide driver and front passenger protection for head and chest*
  • Front side-impact air bags help provide protection of chest and abdominal areas*
  • Side-impact air curtains help protect both front and rear occupants in the event of a side impact*
  • Rollover protection automatically inflates the air curtains if a rollover is detected

* Always wear your seat belt and secure children in the rear seats in appropriate child restraints.

Child Safety

LATCH child-safety-seat anchors on the Tribute help protect your most precious cargo.
  • LATCH child-safety-seat anchors are included in the second row seats for LATCH-compatible child-safety seats
  • Child safety locks can be set to prevent the rear doors from being opened from the inside

Additional Safety Features

Every Tribute is packed with a host of standard safety features.
  • Roll Stability Control (RSC) uses on-board sensors that monitor vehicle movement and automatically apply individual brakes to help keep Tribute stable during accident-avoidance maneuvers
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)* modulates the throttle and brakes when over- or understeer is detected to help keep the vehicle stable during aggressive maneuvers
  • Traction Control System (TCS) detects any loss of traction and adjusts the throttle to provide the drive wheels with a better grip on the road and more sure-footed acceleration in difficult driving conditions
  • Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) boosts braking power when an emergency situation is detected
  • Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) helps improve safety and fuel efficiency

* Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is an electronic system to help the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether DSC will be effective in preventing loss of control. Please see the Owner’s Manual for further details.
