> 2011 MAZDA Cx-7 Features: safety

DSC/TCS

Leaving nothing to chance, Mazda packed the CX-7 with some of the most advanced safety features available.

  • Standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)* modulates the throttle and brakes when over- or understeer is detected, helping keep the vehicle stable during aggressive maneuvers.
  • Standard Traction Control System (TCS) detects any loss of traction, and then adjusts the throttle to provide the drive wheels with a better grip on the road and more sure-footed acceleration in difficult driving conditions.

* Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is an electronic system to help the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether DSC will be effective in preventing loss of control. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details.

Seat Belts

The seat belt system of the CX-7 not only helps protect against injury from impact, but also from seat belt-related injuries*.

  • Front seat-belt pretensioners reduce slack in seat belts during an impact, while force limiters modulate the belt’s pressure to reduce seat belt-related injuries
  • Every seat on the CX-7 is outfitted with 3-point seat belts for the safety of everyone aboard.
  • Standard LATCH child-safety-seat anchors keep compatible child seats secured in the rear seats.

* Always wear your seat belt and secure children in the rear seats in appropriate child restraints.

Air Bags

In addition to comprehensive coverage, the advanced air bag system of the CX-7 includes the added bonus of rollover protection.

  • Advanced dual front air bags help provide driver and front passenger protection for head and chest*.
  • Front side-impact air bags help protect chest and abdominal areas, while the side air curtains help protect both front and rear occupants in the event of a side impact
  • Rollover protection automatically inflates the air curtains if a rollover is detected.

* Always wear your seat belt and secure children in the rear seats in appropriate child restraints.

Body Structure

CX-7’s especially rigid body supplies a quiet and comfortable ride, that’s safe as well.

  • Rigid, reinforced Triple H body construction encases the cabin, deflecting the impact and providing maximum protection throughout.

Blind Spot Monitoring

Like eyes in the back of your head, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System is an advanced warning system thats alerts you when other vehicles are alongside you in your blind spot.

  • Outside rearview mirrors display a warning light when vehicles enter detection area.
  • If the turn signal is activated while vehicles are in the detection area, a chime sounds to alert the driver.

* Do not rely completely on the BSM system and be sure to look over your shoulder before changing lanes. The BSM system can assist the driver in confirming the safety of the surrounding but is not a complete substitute. The driver is responsible for assuring lane changes and other maneuvers. Always pay attention to the direction in which the vehicle is traveling and the vehicle’s surroundings. The BSM system does not operate when the vehicle speed is lower than about 20 mph (32 km/h).
